EATing is still an issue for me. I think my mind is a little messed up about this topic. When I first moved to NY, I stopped eating meat. This affected my whole menstrual cycle. Adopting to the culture and especially going to a design school I was surrounded by model-like girls who had terrible eating habits. It was hard not to be influenced by them. I remember skipping meals, trying early dinners, and even weird liquid detox/diets. I also went to many nutritionists and tried different types of diets including transmittent fasting, Mediterranean diet and all that jazz.
When your mind is stretched so much, you lose the core values and kind of forget the zero point. It might be difficult to come back to a "normal"pattern. However, I more and more believe in instinctive eating. Eat what your body tells you. Do not stress yourself because stress also affects your hormones thus your body. When you eat, make sure you enjoy it.
Another thing I tend to do is, really focus on the foot when I am eating. I used to love watch and eat. This would last hours as I never fully concentrated on what i ate, left me with an unsatisfied feeling and led me eating more. Fully acknowledge your plate and imagine how that food will fuel you as you go through your day.
Below are some photos from farmers markets in Bodrum/Turkey. What a therapy! Wish I could somehow let you smell those photos here.
SOME TIPS FOR NOURISHING NERVOUS SYSTEM AND YOUR SPIRIT
I am not a nutritionist so please see a practitioner before applying these. However you might want to think of nourishing and gently toning your nervous system.
Try to fuel yourself with nutritious food.
Majorly green foods!!!!
Add healthy fats (I know you hear this all the time) — I am obsessed with my avocado, nuts and cold pressed olive oil. However you may wanna try adding in virgin coconut oil, grass-fed butter, and ghee as well.
Reduce or eliminate packaged food !! Especially if you are a Londoner i know packed chips might be your obsession. Think twice!!
Reduce or eliminate sugar (i know i know...) - try to aim for natural sources for your sweet tooth.
Reduce or eliminate caffeine - except Yogi Tea recipe by @mantrasandmiracles.(find it in recipes) If must have coffee, try to have it later in the day (after 10:00 am) and make it add grass-fed butter or MTC oil
Be gentle, be kind!
Green leafy vegetables
Cold pressed oils
